Mind Over Chatter was born from a pun and an image. The idea to put “mind over matter” and what happens in the therapy space is talking through a lot of internal
"mind matters" brought the ideas together - with some consultation for whimsical idea names for a business of course. The chatter can be dual representing - both the mental chatter that we all experience and the healing space where all the pieces get sorted out. It’s kind of a 3 for 1 deal.
About MeI am Dr. Peggy Wright, DSW, LCSW. I was a community based social worker for 7 years, and that’s where we start our therapeutic journey - defining that your space is your space. Yes, I now have an office, but it is your time. My approach is individualized to each family. I have experience working with youth and teens from ages 5 to 21, and adults. I have worked with people presenting different life transitions, complex family dynamics* (we’ll talk about that one in a bit later), neurodivergence, complex trauma and trauma.
I do not provide family therapy, but understanding how complex family dynamics work is a passion of mine. If understanding boundaries could be a specialty, it would be mine. I spend a lot of time with clients discussing what types of relationships they want with others, and how they wish to communicate their wants, feelings and needs to people.
My Therapy Space
Individual counseling for people across the spectrum. Person-centered approach is the center, so every treatment plan - or goals you work on during therapy - is different.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills, and mindfulness informed therapy to assist clients on their treatment goals to address concerns like: childhood emotional abuse, ADHD, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.
Each session looks different. Some may need to use fidget and sensory objects, others we use games to help conversations start and carry throughout. I want the therapeutic space to be an expression of whimsy for you to relax and leave what you need to there. It will be there for you next time you enter and you can continue to discuss it when you come back.
